Caritas Fürth Opens First Outpatient Care Centre in Südstadt District

Caritas Fürth has opened its first local outreach centre for outpatient care in Fürth’s Südstadt district. The new home nursing service is now based at 108 Karolinenstraße, offering improved access for both staff and patients. The move marks a significant expansion of care services in an area previously without a dedicated facility. The relocation follows a €30,000 investment by Caritas to adapt the premises. AEG/Electrolux supported the project by donating kitchen appliances, while the Horst Kimmich Foundation also contributed. A key milestone was the first disbursement from the newly established Hans-Fäßler-Caritas-Fürth Foundation, which provided €3,000 for the care station. The foundation was created to honour Hans Fäßler, the longtime chairman of Caritas, on his 80th birthday.

The new location on Karolinenstraße provides better parking and shorter travel distances, helping the home care team work more efficiently. The modern, barrier-free facility is also close to public transport, making it easier for patients to visit. This is the first time a Fürth-based welfare association has set up an outpatient care centre in Südstadt, a district with around 26,000 residents—many of them elderly or living alone. The care team, led by Yao Qi and Olga Touretskaja, includes around 30 members. The move strengthens Caritas’s presence in Südstadt, joining existing initiatives like the Coordinated Neighborhood Network and the 'Zeppelin12' secondhand clothing store. Michael Bischoff, a member of Caritas’s executive board, acknowledged the contributions that made the new space possible.

The new care station fills a long-standing gap in Südstadt’s healthcare services. With improved facilities and a central location, it aims to better support the district’s residents. The project also highlights Caritas’s growing role in the community through expanded outreach and partnerships.
