Puschendorf Unveils New Outdoor Fitness Trail for Seniors
A new outdoor fitness trail for seniors has opened in Puschendorf. The facility is located at the sports grounds near Eichwaldhalle, offering older adults a dedicated space for exercise. Mayor Alexander Dörr praised it as a 'true asset' for the village. The project was initiated by Puschendorf’s Senior Citizens’ Council in partnership with the local government. The trail features training stations arranged in a continuous loop, making it easy for older adults to access and use.
The trail sits next to the pumptrack, creating a shared space for different age groups to gather. Funding for the project came from the EU’s LEADER program, which contributed approximately €16,746.40. The total cost of the trail was around €53,000.
After the official opening, attendees celebrated with a traditional Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast. The Local Action Group 'LEADER Region Landkreis Fürth e.V.' oversees such initiatives, aiming to support sustainable rural development in the district through locally driven projects. The fitness trail is now open for use at the sports grounds near Eichwaldhalle. It provides a dedicated exercise space for seniors, funded in part by the EU’s rural development program. The project adds to Puschendorf’s community facilities, fulfilling a need identified by local residents.
