Free IVF consultations bring hope to Magadan's infertile couples in 2026

Infertility affects many couples in Russia, with one in six or seven struggling to conceive. A diagnosis is confirmed after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse for those under 35, or after six months for women over 35. Male factors contribute to infertility in 50–60% of cases, while female factors account for about 40–50%. In April 2026, reproductive specialist Anastasia Denisovna Alekseeva from EmbryLife visited Magadan for free in-person consultations. Twenty-seven women attended, with five seeking advice on frozen embryo transfer. Five others were advised to undergo further examination and laparoscopic surgery, a treatment now available in Magadan since early 2026.

Seventeen women from the Kolyma region were approved for IVF under mandatory health insurance. They will travel to St. Petersburg for the procedure, as IVF is covered for couples with a confirmed infertility diagnosis. Residents of Magadan can also access free online consultations with EmbryLife specialists. The consultations and treatments aim to support those facing infertility. Laparoscopic surgery is now locally available, and IVF remains an option for approved patients. These measures provide clearer pathways for couples seeking medical assistance.
