St. Petersburg Surgeons Save Fertility in Groundbreaking Fibroid Removal

Surgeons in St. Petersburg have successfully removed a large uterine fibroid from a patient while preserving her fertility. The complex operation was carried out using advanced minimally invasive techniques. The case was reported by the Bokal Press Telegram channel. The procedure took place at St. Petersburg State University’s N.I. Pirogov High Medical Technology Clinic. Lada Pokrovskaya, an obstetrician-gynaecologist and surgeon at the clinic, led the team. The woman, from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, underwent surgery under the federal high-tech medical care quota system. This meant she received the treatment free of charge. The clinic’s use of cutting-edge methods allowed the removal of the large tumour through small incisions. The operation preserved the patient’s ability to conceive.
