Magadan's New Maternity Hospital Joins Russia's Top 25 Infrastructure Projects

A new maternity hospital in Magadan has been included in a national list of 25 key infrastructure projects. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the updated list, which features socially significant facilities across the country. The project aims to improve maternal and infant healthcare in the region. Governor Sergei Nosov secured the hospital’s place on the National Welfare Fund’s list of large-scale projects. The 20,000-square-metre facility will include an 80-bed inpatient unit, a modern women’s clinic, and a day hospital. It will also be fitted with advanced Russian-made medical technology, including neonatal care systems.

The project falls under the People’s Program of the United Russia party, ensuring continuous funding for its completion. Strict oversight by state and regulatory bodies will prevent corruption and guarantee efficient use of budget funds. The federal list also covers other major facilities, such as the Kamchatka Regional Hospital and children’s hospitals in Omsk, Tver, and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Once operational, the hospital will provide high-standard care, reducing maternal and infant mortality risks in Kolyma, Chukotka, and Kamchatka. Its capacity will also allow residents from neighbouring regions to access services without affecting local expectant mothers. Rigorous monitoring will ensure the project is delivered on time and meets public needs.
