Magadan schools to get modern GTO fitness zones by September 2024

Modern GTO fitness zones will open this year at two schools in Magadan. The facilities aim to encourage students to exercise regularly and meet fitness standards. They will be built under a state programme promoting physical activity. Magadan Region Governor Sergei Nosov ordered the construction of the outdoor gyms. They will be placed on vacant lots at Eco-Biological Lyceum and School No. 28. Work is expected to finish by the end of September.

Each fitness zone will include equipment for upper-body workouts, abdominal and back exercises, parallel bars, an elliptical trainer, a stationary bike, a Swedish wall, pull-up bars, and a bench press station. Shock-absorbing flooring will also be installed for safety and comfort.

The project supports the national initiative Long and Active Life, launched by the country’s president. It also falls under the state programme Development of Physical Culture and Sports. The new fitness zones will help students integrate sports into their daily routines. They will also assist in meeting GTO standards and improving overall health. The facilities are set to open later this year.
