Philipp Kaider is racing across America while keeping up with the World Cup. The Austrian cyclist aims to win the Race Across America for the second time. He has already covered half of the 4,900-kilometre route. Kaider maintains an average speed of just under 30 km/h over the first 2,500 kilometres. To stay awake, he allows himself only 80 minutes of sleep every 24 hours. He fights fatigue with caffeine or by keeping his mind active during the race.
This year, he has adjusted his position on his time-trial bike to ease neck problems. Despite the gruelling challenge, he still finds time to listen to World Cup updates while cycling. He even believes Austria could draw or win against Argentina in their upcoming match.
Kaider expects to reach Missouri before Austria’s final group-stage game against Algeria. When it comes to food, he prefers Austrian dishes over Argentine cuisine to keep his energy up. Kaider remains focused on defending his Race Across America title. His strict sleep schedule and mental strategies help him push through the long journey. He continues to balance the physical demands of the race with his passion for football.
