Russia Proposes Major Reforms to Honor and Reward Blood Donors

Sergei Mironov, head of the A Just Russia – For Truth party, has put forward new proposals to improve support for blood donors. In an interview with RIA Novosti, he highlighted the importance of blood donation to the country’s healthcare system. Mironov called for a significant increase in the annual payment for holders of the Honored Blood Donor of Russia title. Currently, recipients receive 19,497 rubles per year. He argued that this amount should be raised several times over to reflect their contributions more fairly.

He also proposed a new three-tiered system for the honorary title. Under his plan, donors would earn the third degree after 40 donations, the second after 80, and the first after 120. Each level would come with an expanded set of benefits.

Mironov pointed out that support for donors varies across regions, with most areas offering less than Moscow. He stressed that regular blood donation remains accessible to many citizens, making these changes widely relevant. The proposed reforms aim to boost recognition and financial support for frequent blood donors. If implemented, the new system would introduce clearer distinctions and greater rewards for long-term contributors. This could encourage more people to participate in blood donation programmes.
