Medkart Assured Launches to Combat Doubts Over Generic Medicine Quality

Medkart Pharmacy has launched a new transparency initiative called Medkart Assured. The programme aims to address growing patient concerns about the quality of generic medicines. It comes as regulators report a sharp rise in substandard drug samples across India. In 2025, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) found 1,879 drug samples to be Not of Standard Quality. This figure is more than double the number recorded in 2024. The increase has led the CDSCO to tighten its sampling and reporting rules for drug manufacturers.

A separate 2025 study revealed that many patients doubt the safety and effectiveness of generic medicines. These concerns are most pronounced in oncology and cardiovascular treatments. Medkart Pharmacy’s new initiative responds directly to such worries.

Under Medkart Assured, the company will publish test results, rejections, and testing protocols for its medicines. Products are procured in line with Schedule M of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. They then undergo dual testing at NABL-accredited laboratories.

The pharmacy also trains its staff to explain quality differences to patients. This helps clarify doubts about the medicines they receive. Medkart plans to release a detailed Quality & Transparency Report, disclosing testing volumes, rejection rates, and the protocols used.

The company positions Medkart Assured as a category-wide standard rather than a judgement on individual manufacturers. Its message to patients is clear: affordability and safety should not be mutually exclusive. The best way to prove this, it argues, is through open disclosure of testing and quality data. Medkart Assured sets out to build trust by sharing detailed quality information with the public. The initiative follows stricter regulatory oversight and rising patient concerns. It also aligns with the company’s goal of proving that safe, effective medicines can remain accessible to all.
