Surgeons Remove 7-Kilogram Uterine Tumour in High-Risk Operation

Surgeons at the Primorsky Krai Oncology Center have successfully removed a 7-kilogram benign tumour from a patient’s uterus. The complex operation lasted two and a half hours and involved a large medical team. The patient, named Oksana, is now recovering well ahead of her discharge. The tumour measured 50 centimetres in size and had pressed against nearby organs. Its sheer weight and position made the procedure high-risk, particularly due to the enlarged uterus and its blood vessels. Doctors warned that uncontrolled bleeding could become a major complication during surgery.

The surgical team carefully planned the operation to minimise risks. Despite the challenges, they kept blood loss to just 600–700 millilitres. The department, which handles over 650 surgeries annually for patients across the region, has extensive experience in complex oncogynecological cases. Oksana’s recovery is progressing smoothly, and she will soon leave the hospital. The successful removal of such a large tumour highlights the skill and precision of the centre’s medical staff. The operation also demonstrates their ability to manage high-risk procedures with controlled outcomes.
