Omsk Oblast now has the highest rate of viral hepatitis in Russia. The region recorded 1,819 cases of Hepatitis C in 2025, with an infection rate of 100.39 per 100,000 people. This figure is more than double the national average. In 2025, Omsk Oblast reported 2,143 cases of chronic viral hepatitis. This translates to a rate of 118.27 cases per 100,000 residents. The numbers mark a sharp rise from the previous average of 44.22 cases per 100,000 between 2022 and 2024.

The region’s infection rate far surpasses that of other high-risk areas. Kamchatka Krai, the Republic of Crimea, and St. Petersburg also report elevated levels. Across Russia, 35 regions now exceed the national average for viral hepatitis infections. Omsk Oblast’s rate remains the highest in the country. The surge in cases highlights a growing public health concern in the region. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
