Moscow's New Mega-Hospital Nears Halfway Mark in Balashikha
A major new hospital is taking shape in Balashikha, just outside Moscow. Construction began in March 2024, and the facility is now 46% complete. Once finished in 2028, it will serve nearly 2 million people across the region. The hospital complex will include an 1,100-bed inpatient department. It will also house a diagnostic and consultation centre capable of handling 300 patient visits per shift. Specialised services will cover 26 medical fields, from vascular care to ophthalmology.
A regional vascular centre, maxillofacial surgery, and thoracic surgery departments will operate on-site. The facility will also feature a dedicated helipad for emergency air transport. Currently, interior finishing work is underway to prepare for the 2028 opening. When fully operational, the hospital will significantly expand healthcare access in the Moscow Region. Its advanced infrastructure and broad range of specialties aim to meet the needs of a large population. The project remains on track for completion within the next four years.
