Kazakhstan has sent 318.8 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The shipment was organised on government instructions to support the Afghan people. The country views Afghanistan as a key partner in the region. The aid included essential medications, medical supplies, 300 tons of sugar, 100 summer tents, bedding, and other relief items. It was coordinated by KazAID alongside several ministries and delivered to Hairatan station in Balkh Province, with part of the shipment transported by air with an official delegation.

A team of nine Kazakhstani doctors was also dispatched to Afghanistan. They will provide medical consultations, hands-on care, and training workshops for local healthcare workers. The mission reflects Kazakhstan’s ongoing commitment to assisting Afghanistan, where UN data shows 30 million of its 45 million people need humanitarian aid.

Additionally, Kazakhstan has established the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. The centre will strengthen cooperation with international organisations, coordinate efforts towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and promote trade and economic ties. The humanitarian aid and medical mission aim to address urgent needs in Afghanistan. The new UN centre in Almaty will further support regional collaboration. These steps underline Kazakhstan’s strategic focus on stabilising and aiding its neighbour.
