Wild Herb Excursion in Koblenz Uncovers Hidden Botanical Treasures

The Koblenz Environmental Agency’s forest ecology station recently hosted a wild herb excursion for nature lovers. The event drew attention to the public’s growing interest in local plants and traditional botanical knowledge. The three-hour guided walk through the city forest was led by forest educator Michaela Teusch and Oliver Euskirchen. Participants explored the diversity of native wild plants, learning to recognise their shapes, colours, and unique features.

With the help of images and real-life examples, the group successfully identified many herbs in their natural surroundings. Teusch shared stories, myths, and historical facts about the plants, adding depth to the experience.

The excursion also covered the healing properties and medicinal uses of the herbs. Attendees discovered culinary recipes featuring the plants, expanding their practical knowledge of local flora.
