The 11th National Congress of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) is taking place in Hà Nội from May 11 to 13, 2026. The event marks a historic milestone for the organisation, opening a new chapter after recent restructuring of socio-political groups and mass associations. During the congress, local chapters have highlighted their achievements. In Vinh Long Province, the Fatherland Front Committee has mobilised resources to build 14,738 houses worth nearly VNĐ900 billion ($34.1 million). Additionally, over VNĐ120 billion ($4.5 million) was raised through the 'For the Poor' Fund to support housing for ethnic communities. The province is home to 24 ethnic groups, making up 11.05% of its population. The committee also plans to use information technology and social media to better engage with these communities and strengthen its supervisory role.
In Khánh Hòa Province, authorities have expanded support for fishermen and their families. Gift packages worth VNĐ280 million (US$10,700) and scholarships were distributed as part of broader efforts. The province, with its 500km coastline and around 200 islands, has also implemented marine conservation projects and created new jobs.
Lai Châu Province has made progress in addressing social issues. Through community conventions, 50 outdated customs and practices were identified for elimination. As a result, child marriage cases dropped sharply, with only 163 recorded couples by the end of 2025—a decline of nearly 67%. The congress in Hà Nội underscores the VFF’s renewed direction following organisational changes. Local initiatives across provinces demonstrate ongoing efforts to improve living conditions, support marginalised groups, and address social challenges. These measures reflect concrete steps taken to strengthen community development and social welfare.
