Army Vice Chief Gen. Mingus to Discuss Soldier Readiness in Free Webinar

General James Mingus will speak at an Association of the U.S. Army webinar on September 24. The session, free with registration, begins at noon Eastern Time. Mingus, the 39th vice chief of staff of the Army, will focus on soldier readiness and leadership development. Mingus took on his current role in January 2024 after serving as director of the Joint Staff. His military career spans over four decades, starting in 1981 when he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. Commissioned through ROTC from Winona State University in 1985, he later served in elite units like the 82nd Airborne Division, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and the 4th Infantry Division.

During the webinar, Mingus will explain the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness program. This initiative combines physical training, mental resilience, sleep management, nutrition, and spiritual well-being to improve soldier performance. He will also outline a pilot course designed to help non-commissioned officers assess risks and boost unit effectiveness. Another topic includes a new qualification identifier for NCOs. This special designation will recognise those serving as brigade-level experts in human performance.

The webinar offers a chance to hear directly from a senior Army leader on key training and readiness programs. Mingus’s discussion will cover both broad health initiatives and targeted leadership courses. Registration remains open for the free online event.
