Zomato's Ritual takes on Swiggy with protein-packed cloud kitchens

Zomato has launched a new cloud kitchen brand called Ritual, specialising in high-protein drinks and health-focused meals. The service is currently live in Gurugram, with a few listings extending into Delhi NCR. This move comes as a direct response to Swiggy's expanding EatRight category, which promotes healthier food choices across major Indian cities.

Ritual operates under a partnership with Massive Restaurants, which manages day-to-day kitchen operations. The menu features protein shakes, hot and iced coffee, and fresh salads, all designed for health-conscious consumers. Protein ingredients are sourced from direct-to-consumer brands like Wellbeing Nutrition, The Whole Truth, and SuperYou.

Unlike Swiggy's approach, Zomato's strategy focuses on dedicated cloud kitchens for rapid scaling. These virtual kitchens prioritise high-margin protein meals, using dark stores to serve hyper-local demand efficiently. In contrast, Swiggy's **EatRight** initiative integrates healthy options into existing restaurant menus, avoiding heavy infrastructure costs. By early 2026, Swiggy had expanded **EatRight** to Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. Zomato's Ritual, however, remains limited to Gurugram and select parts of Delhi NCR for now.

Ritual marks Zomato's push into the health food market, competing directly with Swiggy's broader EatRight network. The brand's focus on protein-rich, quick-service meals reflects a growing demand for convenient, nutrition-focused dining. For now, availability remains restricted to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, with potential expansion likely tied to consumer response.
