Yakutsk gears up for Peace! May! GTO! sports festival in 2026

A major sports festival will take place in Yakutsk from May 29 to 31, 2026. The event, titled Peace! May! GTO!, invites residents of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to test their physical fitness and earn distinction badges under Russia’s GTO program. Organisers have opened registration and set strict entry requirements for participants. The Republican Festival Peace! May! GTO! will be held across three venues: Tuimaada Stadium, Central Park of Culture and Recreation, and Cholbon Swimming Pool. The competition forms part of the federal project Sport—A Way of Life and aligns with two key initiatives: the Year of National Unity in Russia and the Year of Culture in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Participants must submit an entry form to **[email protected]** by May 20, 2026. On the day of the event, they are required to bring a medical certificate—without it, entry will be denied. The festival welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including civil servants, students, and members of public organisations. The testing standards follow Russia’s GTO physical fitness program, with full details available on the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Trade Union Federation website. The event has received official approval from the region’s Trade Union Federation, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, and the Ministry of Education and Science.

The festival will assess participants’ fitness while promoting healthy living across Yakutia. Successful candidates will receive GTO distinction badges as recognition of their achievements. Organisers have set clear deadlines and requirements to ensure smooth participation in the upcoming event.
