Two aspiring soldiers have died during military training in Capas, Tarlac. Johndyl Lemosniro from Davao del Norte and Junel Flores from Basilan City suffered severe health complications after extreme physical exertion in high heat. The Philippine Army has since expressed its sympathy to their families. The trainees fell ill during the rigorous exercises and were quickly taken to the O'Donnell Medical Treatment Facility. Their symptoms worsened, leading to brain swelling and complications from severe heat stroke. Doctors performed endotracheal intubation to secure their airways and assist breathing.
Both were later transferred to Tarlac Provincial Hospital for advanced care. Despite medical efforts, Lemosniro and Flores did not survive. The Philippine Army confirmed that their deaths resulted from extreme physical strain in high temperatures.
The military has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of all trainees. Stringent safety policies, medical protocols, and precautionary measures remain in place to prevent similar incidents. The Philippine Army continues to enforce strict safety and health measures for all recruits. The deaths of Lemosniro and Flores have prompted renewed focus on preventing heat-related illnesses during training. Their families have received support and condolences from the military.
