Two Natural Extracts Mimic GLP-1 Effects for Weight Loss, Study Finds
New clinical research from Gateway Health Alliances (GHA) reveals two botanical extracts, Dyglomera and CQR-300, can boost the body's natural 'satiety hormone' GLP-1. The study, involving 248 overweight and obese adults over 16 weeks, shows these ingredients improve weight management, reduce body fat, and lower calorie intake. Both extracts have already gained market traction as natural alternatives to synthetic GLP-1 drugs.
The latest findings highlight how Dyglomera and CQR-300 increase circulating GLP-1 levels by up to 321%. They also reduce DPP-4, an enzyme that breaks down GLP-1, by 15-18%. This dual action helps regulate appetite, leading to a 16-18% drop in daily calorie consumption and weight loss similar to prescription treatments.
The study builds on over 14 peer-reviewed trials confirming these effects. Participants taking either extract saw improvements in body composition, energy intake, and feelings of fullness. CQR-300, already used in brands like Estroven, is now expanding into weight management products across multiple markets.
GHA primarily serves the supplement industry but is exploring wider applications. Both ingredients face few regulatory hurdles due to their low dosage (300-400mg), neutral taste, and stability in various formats. Their patented status and strong clinical backing set them apart from less validated alternatives like carob-nopal blends.
Supplement brands must still avoid direct GLP-1 claims to comply with regulations. However, promoting 'healthy GLP-1 activity' remains a viable marketing approach for these ingredients.
Dyglomera and CQR-300 offer a science-backed, natural option for weight and appetite control. Their ability to enhance GLP-1 while reducing DPP-4 activity has drawn interest from food, beverage, and supplement companies. With minimal regulatory barriers and proven results, these extracts are poised for broader adoption in metabolic health products.
