Two boys were rushed to hospital after an incident at Matthiessen State Park on a school field trip. One of them, aged around 11 or 12, lost consciousness after inhaling water while roughhousing. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene. The incident took place at around 12:45 p.m. at the park, roughly 90 miles southwest of Chicago. When police arrived, CPR was already being performed on the unconscious boy. He was revived shortly after, and both children were breathing and alert by the time they were airlifted to a hospital in Peoria.
Upon arrival, doctors noted that both boys showed signs of shock. Despite the seriousness of the situation, their injuries were later confirmed as non-life-threatening. The two boys remain under medical care following the water-related incident. Their condition is stable, and no further updates on their recovery have been released. The school and authorities have not yet commented on the details of the field trip.
