Multiple Years in Prison for Poisoning Attacks on Rescue Station - Trainee Paramedic Jailed for Poisoning 13 Colleagues in Shocking Case

A 25-year-old trainee paramedic has been jailed for poisoning 13 colleagues at a rescue station in Vaihingen/Enz. The woman admitted spiking their drinks with atropine and other stolen prescription drugs between October 2023 and April 2024. She claimed her actions were meant as a lesson, not to cause serious harm.

The incidents began when the trainee, working at the emergency services station, secretly laced drinks with atropine. Colleagues soon reported alarming symptoms: racing heartbeats, blurred vision, and severe disorientation. One paramedic collapsed during an emergency call and required hospital treatment.

The case first went to trial but collapsed after a lay judge died unexpectedly. A retrial took place in mid-December of the previous year. Prosecutors had pushed for an attempted murder conviction, arguing the poisonings were deliberate and dangerous. However, the court rejected this charge. Instead, the woman was found guilty of grievous bodily harm. She maintained that she only wanted to 'teach her colleagues a lesson' and 'annoy them,' never intending to kill or seriously injure anyone.

The court sentenced the trainee paramedic to three years and eight months in prison. Her actions left 13 coworkers suffering from poisoning, with one requiring emergency hospital care. The case has raised concerns about workplace safety and trust within emergency medical services.
