Toy teams up with Lisbon's Oncology Institute to promote hand hygiene through music

Portuguese singer Toy has joined forces with Lisbon’s Oncology Institute to promote better hand hygiene. The campaign encourages people to wash their hands more often—and for longer—using music as a guide. Toy’s popular song has even been rewritten for the effort. The partnership pairs Toy with IPO Lisboa, which advises washing hands between 8 to 15 times daily. The exact number depends on personal routines and exposure to germs.

To make the habit stick, the campaign suggests humming a tune while scrubbing. This ensures the process lasts at least 30 to 40 seconds—the time needed to kill harmful bacteria. Toy adapted his hit *Coração Não Tem Idade* for the cause, changing the lyrics to urge handwashing *dia e noite* (day and night).

The initiative aims to reduce infections by making hand hygiene more engaging. IPO Lisboa’s guidelines and Toy’s catchy reminder give people a simple way to stay protected. The campaign is now running across Portugal.
