Car Drives into Kindergarten Group - Toddler Seriously Injured - Toddler critically injured after elderly driver hits daycare group at crosswalk

An 84-year-old driver hit a group of children at a crosswalk in Niesky on Tuesday. The collision left a one-year-old girl with serious injuries after the car struck a stroller. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and a crisis team was called in to support those involved.

The accident happened when the driver failed to spot the daycare group crossing the road. The vehicle hit a pushchair carrying two one-year-old children, injuring one of them severely. She was airlifted to hospital for urgent treatment.

At least three children were in the group, including the two in the stroller and another who escaped unharmed. A daycare worker also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a medical facility for care. Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the driver to miss seeing the group. The incident resulted in around €1,000 worth of property damage, though the focus remains on the injured child's condition.

The injured girl remains under medical care after the crash. The driver, the daycare worker, and the other children involved have all been accounted for. Investigations into the accident are ongoing, with no further details released at this time.
