Thuringia's 2026 'Week for Family Caregivers' Offers Free Expert Support

Thuringia’s annual 'Week for Family Caregivers' will take place from June 1 to 7, 2026. Organised by the association Wir pflegen, the event aims to support the region’s 300,000 unpaid carers who look after around 190,000 people in need of assistance. A key highlight is a free action day packed with expert advice and practical resources. The main event of the week is a special action day on June 4, 2026. Running from 9 AM to 4 PM, it will be held at the assembly hall of the district administration office in Meiningen. Visitors can attend lectures on topics like advance directives, assistive devices, housing counselling, and accessible living.

The Care Support Center and the Local Care Network in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district are jointly hosting the day. All services, including one-on-one consultations, are free of charge. Those wishing to speak with the Care Support Center can book an appointment by phone or email. For those unable to attend in person, hybrid participation is available.
