A team of medical students from Thammasat University has earned top honours at the 10th KKU ICEM 2026 competition. The event, held at Khon Kaen University from February 6 to 10, tested skills in emergency medicine across three intense rounds. Among the winners, Chawit Wanamongkol stood out by claiming the gold medal in the individual category.

The competition brought together 12 teams from leading medical schools in Thailand, Japan, and the Philippines. Participants were assessed on Adult and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS/PALS 2025 guidelines) as well as common emergency scenarios. The contest formed part of the Real-world arena of the 'Emergency Medicine' platform.

The Thammasat University team included sixth-year students Chawit Wanamongkol, Pheem Phongsukwechakul, and Supapitch Subenja, alongside fifth-year student Thorntarathip Singthong. Their performance secured them the second runner-up position in the team category. Wanamongkol also took home the individual gold after excelling in all three rounds: a preliminary test (MCQ, MEQ, SAQ), a semi-final with 20 varied questions, and a final simulation using mannequins. Wanamongkol has long been drawn to emergency medicine, admiring how emergency physicians stabilise patients in critical moments. He emphasised the importance of teamwork in healthcare, noting that every role contributes to improving patients' quality of life.

The 10th KKU ICEM 2026 competition highlighted the skills of future medical professionals in high-pressure scenarios. Thammasat University's team returned with both individual and group recognition, reinforcing their training in emergency care. The event underscored the growing collaboration among medical students across Asia.
