Sverdlovsk Region unveils bold 2031 plan to transform children's recreation

Officials in the Sverdlovsk Region have outlined plans to overhaul children’s recreation and health programmes by 2031. A recent meeting of the Interagency Commission focused on preparations for the 2026 summer campaign, with safety, medical support, and anti-terrorism measures among the key priorities discussed. Artem Melentyev, head of the Ural Holidays Children’s Resource Center, presented a new regional concept for 2026–2031. The plan aims to replace scattered initiatives with a unified system, treating children’s recreation as an educational and social experience. Core principles include ensuring safety, high-quality programming, trained staff, and measurable results.

A central feature is the *Making Children’s Dreams Come True* project, which will train specialists to support children’s delegations. Another innovation involves tracking satisfaction levels among children, parents, and camp employees. The region will also expand its personnel ecosystem, building on existing programmes like the *Ural Counselor School* and staff training schemes. Additional initiatives include the *Summer in Vocational Schools* and *From the Ural Mountains to the Black Sea* projects, alongside a unified information portal for easier access. To recognise excellence, the *Ural Holidays* competition series will highlight top performers in children’s recreation.

The new concept sets clear goals for children’s recreation over the next five years. By introducing structured training, performance metrics, and expanded programmes, the region aims to create a safer, more organised system. Implementation will begin with the 2026 summer campaign.
