Survivor Oksana B. turns pain into purpose after brutal partner attack

Oksana B. has spoken publicly about the violent attack that left her disfigured and blind in one eye. Her former partner, Nikolai A., was arrested after assaulting her with a wrench in December 2024. She now uses her experience to help others escape abusive relationships.

Oksana B. first met Nikolai A. after a painful divorce. At first, he seemed kind and supportive. But over time, he began isolating her from friends and emotionally abusing her.

When she tried to leave, Nikolai A. stalked and threatened her. The abuse escalated in December 2024, when he attacked her in a fit of rage. Using a wrench, he struck her face, blinding her right eye and breaking her arm and a rib. Police later detained him, and he remains in pretrial detention. Since the attack, Oksana B. has endured multiple surgeries to rebuild the bone around her eye socket. She still wears a medical dressing to cover part of her face and will soon receive an ocular prosthesis. Despite her injuries, she appeared on *Pust Govoryat* (*Let Them Talk*) on Channel One, sharing her story live with viewers. Now, she focuses on raising awareness. Through public speaking, she supports those trapped in violent and toxic relationships.

Nikolai A. remains in custody while Oksana B. continues her recovery. Her surgeries and upcoming prosthesis mark steps toward physical healing. Meanwhile, her advocacy work aims to prevent others from suffering similar abuse.
