Schools in the region are rolling out new meal plans designed for children with disabilities and dietary restrictions. The changes follow updated safety standards and include free meals for all students, depending on their class schedule. Parents will also play a role in overseeing the quality of school food programs. The regional office of Rospotrebnadzor ensures that all food served in schools meets strict safety and quality requirements. Under the new system, students attending morning classes receive free breakfasts, while those in afternoon sessions are provided with lunches.
For children with specific dietary needs, schools have introduced specialised meal plans. These were developed by the Institute of Industry Nutrition in Moscow and cover conditions such as gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, lactose intolerance, and gluten allergies. Schools have also set up dedicated spaces where students with restrictions can bring and store homemade meals. Each facility is now equipped with refrigerators, microwaves for reheating food, and appropriate tableware. Alongside these updates, schools maintain a system allowing parents to monitor meal programs and provide feedback on their children’s nutrition.
The new measures ensure that children with disabilities and dietary restrictions have access to safe, tailored meals. Schools have also expanded storage and reheating options for home-prepared food. The regional health authority continues to supervise food quality across all institutions.
