Kindergartens and schools can apply for the EU school program - Saxony-Anhalt schools can now apply for free EU fruit and milk programme
Daycare centres, primary schools, and special education schools in Saxony-Anhalt can now apply for the EU School Scheme. The programme provides free fresh fruit, vegetables, and milk to children while teaching them about healthy eating habits. Applications must be submitted by March 27.
The scheme focuses on encouraging better food choices among young pupils. Schools and daycare centres that did not take part last year will receive priority, with 80 percent of funding set aside for them. The remaining 20 percent will support new applicants.
Successful institutions will be notified in early May. Once approved, they will receive regular deliveries of fresh produce and dairy products at no cost. The initiative also includes educational activities to help children understand food quality and nutrition.
The state has not released figures on how many schools participated in the programme last year. However, officials have confirmed the deadline for this year's applications remains firm.
The EU School Scheme will run throughout the next academic year. Participating schools and daycare centres will benefit from free food supplies and nutrition lessons. The state will confirm the final list of approved institutions in early May.
