Russian spirulina producer Ritmiko halted over sanitary violations
A district court in Ekaterinburg has suspended the operations of Ritmiko LLC for 30 days. The decision follows an inspection that uncovered serious breaches of sanitary rules at the company’s facility. Ritmiko, known for producing spirulina-based supplements, now faces a temporary halt in production.
The suspension came after Rospotrebnadzor conducted an unscheduled check at Ritmiko’s premises. Inspectors discovered that the company was packaging, storing, and preparing food in the same room, violating health regulations. They also found missing documentation for raw materials and unmarked products in the production area.
Rospotrebnadzor filed an administrative report and secured a court order to pause Ritmiko’s activities. The company had previously showcased its spirulina cultivation technology at the Innoprom industrial trade fair in 2014. Now, its operations remain on hold pending further review.
The 30-day suspension means Ritmiko cannot resume production until it addresses the violations. The court’s ruling highlights the importance of compliance with food safety standards. The company must now correct the issues before reopening.
