Swedish Queen Visits Clinic Named After Her - Queen Silvia's Flensburg visit spotlights dementia and child protection work
Queen Silvia of Sweden will arrive in Flensburg this week for a two-day visit. The trip will focus on her long-standing charitable work, particularly in dementia care and child protection. She will tour local facilities linked to her initiatives during the stay.
The visit begins with a stop at the Queen Silvia Unit at St. Francis Hospital. This specialised ward treats dementia patients who also need acute medical care. After the tour, she will give a speech at the clinic.
On Friday, the Queen will head to the Childhood House, run by Pro Familia. Opened in 2022, the centre provides a safe space for children and teenagers who have suffered physical or sexual abuse. The facility receives support from the World Childhood Foundation, another organisation founded by Queen Silvia.
Her commitment to dementia care dates back decades. In 1996, she helped establish the Silviahemmet Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life for those living with dementia. The Flensburg visit highlights her ongoing dedication to both dementia patients and vulnerable young people.
The two-day programme reflects Queen Silvia's focus on healthcare and child welfare. Her visits to the Queen Silvia Unit and the Childhood House underscore her personal involvement in these causes. The trip also marks her continued support for facilities that align with her charitable foundations.
