A nationwide competition has highlighted the best school meal programmes across Russia. The Healthy Olympics saw over 223,000 students from 5,800 schools take part, with one region standing out for its high standards. Nizhny Novgorod claimed the top spot with a satisfaction score of 4.3 out of 5.

The Healthy Olympics evaluated school meal quality in 88 Russian regions. Students, teachers and parents rated food, nutrition education and overall dining experiences. Among the highest-ranked areas were the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania and the Sakhalin Region.

School No. 3 in Dzerzhinsk secured the grand prize of 1 million rubles. The institution earned recognition for its outstanding performance in the competition. As part of its success, the school also opened a dedicated nutrition education center.

The results reflect efforts to improve meal standards in schools. However, no recent data compares regional progress between 2021 and 2026.

Nizhny Novgorod leads Russia in school meal satisfaction, according to the latest findings. The competition's winners, including School No. 3 in Dzerzhinsk, have set a benchmark for quality and education. The initiative continues to push for better nutrition standards nationwide.
