Police Rescue Sleeping Man from Smoke-Filled Apartment - Neighbour's swift action saves life in Garbsen apartment fire scare

A quick-thinking resident in Garbsen's Berenbostel district helped save a neighbour after a smoke alarm sounded in a multi-family building. The incident began when burning food on a stove filled an apartment with smoke, triggering the alert on Tuesday evening.

The alarm woke a neighbour, who tried to rouse the apartment's occupant but got no response. Concerned, they called the police for help.

Officers arrived and forced open the locked door. Inside, they found the resident asleep in thick smoke. The person was rescued and taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Firefighters then ventilated the building to clear the air. Authorities later confirmed that the resident had been in serious danger. Without the neighbour's intervention, the outcome could have been far worse.

It remains unknown why the resident did not wake up despite the alarm's loud beeping.

The police stated that the rescue came just in time. The resident is now receiving medical care, while investigators continue to look into the circumstances. The incident highlights how smoke alarms and quick action can prevent tragedy in emergencies.
