MTN's 2026 Y'ello Care campaign targets equitable healthcare across Africa

MTN Group has launched the 2026 edition of its annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, running from 1 to 21 June. This year’s theme, ‘Expand Equitable Health for Every Community’, will focus on improving healthcare access and resilience across Africa. The initiative marks the 19th year of the programme, which has engaged thousands of employees in volunteer-driven community support.

Since its start, Y’ello Care has mobilised over 14,000 volunteers, contributing more than 56,000 hours of service and reaching over 107,000 people. The campaign has supported education, healthcare, youth development, and economic empowerment. This year’s activities will include mobile clinics, digital health education, and telemedicine services, alongside screening and prevention programmes.

The need for stronger healthcare systems is clear. Africa carries 25% of the global disease burden but has only 3% of the world’s health workforce. Recent outbreaks, such as the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, highlight gaps in preparedness and community trust. Digital tools could help close these gaps, potentially saving up to $360 billion globally by improving access, disease surveillance, and outbreak response. MTN’s broader work in Africa includes expanding digital and financial inclusion, investing in infrastructure, and fostering innovation. For Y’ello Care 2026, employees and partners will use connectivity and digital platforms to deliver preventative, primary, and responsive healthcare in underserved communities.

The 2026 campaign will build on nearly two decades of volunteer efforts. By combining digital solutions with community-led initiatives, MTN aims to strengthen healthcare delivery and resilience. The programme continues to address critical needs while supporting Africa’s long-term progress.
