Moscow's Meganom Academy Honors Women Heroes Through Art and Healing
A three-day programme called Women Heroes: Drawing Strength from Art took place at Moscow's Meganom Academy of Creative Industries from March 8 to 10. The event brought together 25 women linked to the special military operation, including soldiers, medics, journalists, and volunteers. It marked the academy's first all-female initiative tailored specifically for participants in the conflict.
The programme welcomed active-duty service members, military medics, war correspondents, volunteers, and veterans. Organisers arranged workshops led by psychologists, art therapists, and specialists in vocal performance, painting, acting, makeup, and photography. Each session aimed to provide creative and emotional support for the attendees.
Russian entrepreneur Alice Lobanova, founder of the clothing brand NEVA, contributed to the event by supplying branded sportswear. Her company, known for promoting national traditions and patriotism, also backs young scientists and athletes. Over a thousand women are currently involved in the special military operation. Reports indicate that one in three has received state honours for their service.
The event offered a rare space for women in the conflict to engage with art and professional guidance. As the first programme of its kind at Meganom Academy, it highlighted the role of creative industries in supporting service members. The initiative also drew attention to the growing number of women recognised for their contributions in the operation.
