West Delaware Middle School is hosting an unusual educational display this week. During Parent Teacher Conferences, families can explore a mock teenager's bedroom designed to reveal hidden dangers. The event aims to help parents spot potential risks linked to substance use in everyday items.

The interactive exhibit, named Hidden In Plain Sight, will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 6:30 pm. Organised by the Healthy Delaware County Coalition, it transforms a standard bedroom into a learning tool. Parents can examine objects that might conceal drugs or related paraphernalia.

Megan Drake, a Prevention Specialist with the coalition, is leading the initiative. Her goal is to spark conversations between parents and children about safety and awareness. Jacqueline Lahey, the school's principal, has extended the invitation to families from both middle and high schools.

Manchester Police Chief Ben Davis will also attend the event. He will be on hand to answer questions and provide additional guidance. Currently, no other schools in Delaware County have announced plans for similar exhibitions on addiction prevention.

The display offers a hands-on way for parents to recognise warning signs in their children's surroundings. By identifying risks early, families can take steps to address concerns before they escalate. The event runs alongside regular Parent Teacher Conferences, ensuring easy access for those attending.
