467 Applications for Compensation Following Christmas Market Attack - Magdeburg attack survivors still receive vital support years later

Survivors and families affected by the 2016 Magdeburg Christmas market attack continue to receive support years later. The State Office of Administration has processed hundreds of compensation claims and provided ongoing medical care. Many still rely on assistance today.

Following the attack, 467 compensation applications were submitted. So far, 64 recipients receive €434 monthly, while one individual is granted €868. Another 62 claims remain under review.

The office has delivered 781 medical services, covering diagnostics, rehabilitation, and tailored support. Immediately after the incident, 172 people accessed trauma care at specialised clinics. Funeral costs and benefits for dependents were also covered.

Support extends beyond finances. The State Office of Administration assists with psychotherapy, long-term counselling, and social compensation. Appointments can now be booked through the state's online portal.

Years on, the need for help persists. The State Office of Administration remains active in providing medical, financial, and emotional support. Counselling and compensation services continue to be available for those affected.
