Magadan's Movement and Health Marathon Celebrates Fitness and Inclusion for Students
A regional health marathon called Movement and Health took place in the Magadan Region between January and May 2026. The event aimed to encourage new school projects focused on improving the well-being of students with intellectual disabilities. Schools across the region showcased creative ways to keep pupils active and healthy. The marathon featured a series of presentations and activities, with educators and students from the Magadan Regional Boarding School taking part. One highlight was an outdoor sports festival, Movement Means Health!, where teams competed in relays, games, and a Sports Dance Flash Mob.
At Magadan Regional Education Center No. 2, participants demonstrated exercise breaks inspired by traditional movements from Indigenous peoples of the North. The festival also included *Strength and Health in Russia’s Unity*, a mass event featuring games from different Russian regions. Each team had to present five projects for judging: Exercise Breaks, Active Pause Sessions, Morning Workouts, a Sports and Dance Flash Mob, and a Mass Sports Event. The panel of judges came from organisations like the Arctic Research Center, the Magadan Region Department of Physical Culture and Sports, and local businesses. The atmosphere remained lively and energetic throughout, with students engaging in team challenges and performances. The event celebrated both physical activity and cultural traditions.
The Movement and Health marathon concluded after months of activities designed to promote student fitness. Schools introduced new health-focused projects, while students enjoyed a mix of traditional and modern sports. The initiative reinforced the importance of movement and teamwork in supporting young people’s well-being.
