Kriens secures free sports for youth with four-year partnership renewal
Kriens has extended its partnership with the Weekendsport Kriens association for another four years. The decision ensures that local children, teens, and families will keep enjoying free and accessible sports activities. Two key programmes, Halle für Alle and Midnight Move, will remain central to the city's leisure offerings.
The Halle für Alle initiative invites children, young people, and parents to take part in free, open movement sessions. Held every Sunday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM in the Roggern gymnasium, the programme focuses on unstructured play and shared sports. It encourages social interaction across generations in a relaxed environment.
Midnight Move caters to young people aged 12 and older, offering supervised football, basketball, dance, and hip-hop sessions. The event runs every Saturday evening from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, also at the Roggern gymnasium. Both initiatives aim to create inclusive spaces where participation does not depend on club membership or financial means.
City Councilor Marco Frauenknecht highlighted the importance of these programmes in building a child-friendly community. By complementing Kriens' existing club landscape, they provide accessible options for physical activity and social connection. The renewed agreement secures their future until at least 2028.
The extended partnership guarantees that Kriens' residents will continue benefiting from structured yet flexible sports opportunities. With regular weekend sessions, the programmes support health, social engagement, and intergenerational bonding. The city's commitment ensures these activities remain a stable part of local life.
