Khabarovsk Krai builds 15 new kindergartens by 2027 to ease childcare shortages
Khabarovsk Krai is expanding childcare options with a series of new and renovated kindergartens. By 2027, the region plans to build 15 facilities, including nine under the People's Program and the Family national project. These developments aim to create more spaces for children under three, addressing growing demand in key districts.
Last year, two large kindergartens opened in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Khabarovsk, offering 350 and 320 places respectively. Now, further progress is underway. The Luchik kindergarten in Solnechny is being modernised with over 60 million rubles allocated for upgrades. A new nursery group for infants as young as three months will also open there. State Duma Deputy Maxim Ivanov and district head Sergei Semenov recently inspected the site to review the work.
Meanwhile, reconstruction of Komsomolsk-on-Amur's Kindergarten No. 134 is nearly finished. The contractor, StroyMaster LLC, is expected to complete the project by the start of the academic year. This marks the first initiative of its kind in the district, backed by United Russia's People's Program and the Family national project. Plans extend beyond renovations. Two new kindergartens are already under construction, with design documentation for seven more to be finalised by 2026. The region aims to add 15 facilities by 2027, primarily in Khabarovsk's Industrialny, Kirovsky, and Zheleznodorozhny districts, as well as in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Nikolaevsk-on-Amur. However, the restoration of the Luchik kindergarten's swimming pool remains unfunded in the current budget, though it is included in the upcoming People's Program.
The expansion will significantly increase childcare capacity across Khabarovsk Krai. Once completed, the new and upgraded kindergartens will provide hundreds of additional places for young children. Officials have emphasised the importance of meeting the region's growing need for early-years education.
