Kendamil recalls baby formula in Germany over bacterial contamination risks
Danone has recalled several baby formula products in Germany due to bacterial contamination. The affected brands include Kendamil Pronutra and Kendamil Milupa, distributed nationwide. Routine testing revealed the presence of harmful bacteria linked to a Chinese supplier of ARA oil.
The recall began in early 2026 after the importer detected Bacillus cereus contamination during standard checks. This bacteria produces cereulide, a toxin that can cause nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea if consumed.
The affected products carry best-before dates of February 13, 2027, March 10, 2027, and April 15, 2027. The recalled items are Kendamil Pronutra Pre, Kendamil Pronutra 1 DE, Kendamil Profutura Duo Pre D, and Kendamil Milupa.
Customers who purchased these products are advised to return them to the store for a refund. The contamination originated from a Chinese supplier providing ARA oil, an ingredient used in the formulas.
The recall covers four specific baby formula products with clearly marked expiry dates. Shops will accept returns, ensuring affected stock is removed from circulation. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent further distribution of contaminated batches.
