Kazakhstan's Akmola Hospital Opens Hematology and Rheumatology Units for Advanced Care

Akmola Regional Multidisciplinary Hospital has opened new hematology and rheumatology departments, significantly improving access to specialized care for local residents.

The hematology unit, based at the oncology center, is the region's only dedicated facility offering a full range of services for patients with blood disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, and clotting disorders. It will provide high-dose chemotherapy and advanced treatments such as targeted therapy, ensuring patients receive care that meets modern clinical standards without needing referrals to other regions.

The rheumatology department, established within Therapeutic Unit No. 2, will diagnose and treat musculoskeletal and systemic autoimmune diseases. Using cutting-edge gene-engineered and biological therapies, the department aims to enhance treatment efficacy and improve patients' quality of life.

"Special attention must be given to comprehensive upgrades in medical infrastructure," the Head of State has emphasized. Deputy Akim of the region Altynai Amrenova noted that the new departments address a long-standing issue: previously, patients with blood and autoimmune disorders had to travel outside the region or receive treatment in non-specialized facilities.

The heads of the new departments will also serve as the region's chief off-site specialists, overseeing the work of related services. This integrated approach will ensure a unified patient management system and raise the overall standard of medical care.
