Private clinics and wellness centres are now promoting 'vitamin cocktails'—intravenous drips filled with vitamins, antioxidants, and micronutrients. These treatments promise quick fixes for low energy, weak immunity, chronic fatigue, and even skin improvements. Many patients describe feeling an immediate energy boost after just one session.
The procedure involves a 30 to 60-minute IV infusion, often in a calming environment that enhances the sense of self-care. Clinics claim the method ensures near-total absorption by delivering nutrients straight into the bloodstream, bypassing digestion. Typical ingredients include B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, glutathione, and amino acids, sometimes tailored for specific health goals.
Patients frequently report a surge in energy within an hour, which experts attribute to fluid replenishment, partial correction of deficiencies, and psychological effects. However, the cost can be steep, with a single session ranging from 13,000 to 105,000 tenge, and multi-session courses adding up quickly.
Medical professionals warn that IV vitamin therapy carries risks, such as allergic reactions, vein inflammation, dosing errors, or infections if hygiene standards slip. People with chronic kidney, heart, or metabolic conditions face even greater dangers. Evidence-based guidelines from the WHO and EMA do not recognise these infusions as medically necessary except in rare cases—like confirmed deficiencies, malabsorption, severe dehydration, or anaemia.
While clinics market vitamin drips as a fast solution for various health concerns, experts stress that the benefits remain unproven for most people. The treatments come with potential complications and high costs, leaving patients to weigh the risks against the promised rewards. For now, official health authorities only endorse IV therapy in specific, medically justified situations.
