India-US Partnership Accelerates with New Responsible Nutrition Hub in New Jersey
India Chambers USA has named Dr. Anand Swaroop as its Country Representative for the United States. He will lead the newly established USA Desk, aimed at speeding up collaboration between India and the US in responsible nutrition. The initiative seeks to transform India's role from a raw material supplier into a science-backed leader in preventive health.
The Desk will operate from NutrifyToday's office in Somerset, New Jersey. It will serve as an open hub for industry engagement, hosting scheduled sector days and private dealmaking sessions. Dr. Swaroop plans to use the space for C-suite discussions, regulatory documentation sprints, and joint research and development workshops.
Key efforts include creating a digital 'data room' to track India's organic land resources. This platform will map certified farmland, wild-harvest areas, and seasonal production cycles. The goal is to improve transparency for US partners and buyers.
The Desk will also push for joint clinical trials and real-world evidence studies. These will focus on Ayurvedic compounds and multi-herb formulations, targeting metabolic health, cognitive function, women's wellness, and healthy ageing. Working groups in these areas will bring together Indian and US researchers.
Policy alignment is another priority. The initiative aims to match Indian supplier practices with US standards on quality control, product labelling, and new ingredient approvals. By reducing regulatory gaps, it hopes to smooth cross-border trade and innovation.
Rather than relying on raw material exports, the Desk's mandate is to build a science-driven preventive health sector. Standardised quality, clinical validation, and commercial partnerships will underpin this shift.
The USA Desk will run on a time-bound, results-focused model. Its success depends on converting industry discussions into concrete market gains. For now, the number of Indian clinical trial sites already working with US teams on nutrient research remains undisclosed.
