Inclusive Easter egg hunt in Lititz brings joy to children of all abilities

A special Easter egg hunt in Lititz, Pennsylvania, brought together hundreds of children for an inclusive celebration. The Eggstra Special Egg Hunt offered activities tailored to children with disabilities, ensuring everyone could join in the fun. Among the families attending were Jeremy Davis and his children, who travelled from Levittown for the event. Allison Ebersole first organised the accessible egg hunt to give children with disabilities a chance to enjoy Easter traditions. This year's event featured a wheelchair-accessible hunt, sensory-friendly zones, and even beeping eggs for visually impaired participants. Around 200 children took part in the festivities.

The Davis family made the trip to Lititz so their children, Elias and Joyella, could experience the hunt. Both children have a rare chromosomal disorder that affects their speech and movement. They are the only known individuals with their specific condition. Meanwhile, Joyella is currently undergoing her third round of intensive physical therapy at the Now I Can Foundation. The Utah-based charity specialises in helping children with disabilities improve their mobility. It serves families from across the East Coast, with roughly a quarter of its patients coming from the local area.

The Eggstra Special Egg Hunt gave children of all abilities the chance to celebrate together. Events like this highlight the importance of accessibility in community activities. For families like the Davises, such opportunities provide both joy and support for their children's unique needs.
