Grisha the swan finds hope after life-saving rescue and recovery
A severely injured swan named Grisha has found a new home with the Shyshlankouski family after being rescued last winter. The bird, brought from Zhlobin with frostbitten legs and wings, now lives alongside four other swans in their yard. Grisha arrived at the Shyshlankouskis on December 29, 2025, in poor condition. Veterinarian Ryhor Bialiahou performed surgery and nursed the swan back to health. At first, Grisha and the other swans refused food due to stress, but they now eat regularly.
The family cares for all five swans, feeding them oats, barley, wheat, mixed grain, and vegetables. Two of the birds, Nyusha and Vanyusha, have damaged feathers but remain healthy. Another swan, Glafira, struggles with an injured wing and may never fly again. Liubou Iosifauna hopes that after further surgery, Glafira will regain the use of her other leg. Grisha's recovery has allowed him to settle into his new home. The Shyshlankouskis continue to provide care for all five swans, ensuring they receive proper food and medical attention. The family remains hopeful about Glafira's future mobility after additional treatment.
