Outdoor fitness without contracts or costs: Fürth kicks off its new open-air season with "Fürth bewegt"
On May 4, the city of Fürth launches its latest "Fürth bewegt" (Fürth in Motion) program, offering free outdoor exercise sessions with no strings attached. Until the end of September, six neighborhoods across the cloverleaf city will transform into open sports grounds from Monday to Friday, welcoming participants of all ages.
Whether it's yoga, Pilates, classic interval training, or gentle back-strengthening exercises, the program covers a wide range of activities. This season's regular meeting spots include the Siebenbogenbrücke bridge near Mondstraße, green spaces in Südstadtpark, and meadows in Oststadt. From May 4 to September 25, classes will typically take place in the mornings from 10 to 11 AM, with additional motivating sessions offered on select afternoons.
A core principle of the initiative—organized by Fürth's Office for Sports and Health Promotion—is accessibility in every sense. The city emphasizes that both beginners and seasoned athletes will find suitable challenges, and children as well as people with disabilities are explicitly welcome at all sessions. No prior registration is required; anyone can join spontaneously at the scheduled start times.
The program, previously honored with the Bavarian Prevention Award, continues to grow in popularity. Its deliberately low-threshold approach aims to sustainably improve public health while fostering social connections in urban spaces.
