Free Wiesbaden Lecture Explores Solutions for Food Intolerances

A free public lecture on food intolerances will take place in Wiesbaden on December 3, 2025. Titled A Good Gut Feeling: Understanding Food Intolerances, the event aims to explain how dietary changes can ease symptoms like bloating, cramps, and fatigue. Experts will also cover practical steps for managing conditions such as lactose intolerance and fructose malabsorption. The event is part of the Understandable Medicine lecture series, held at Wiesbaden City Hall. Around one in five Germans report unexplained discomfort after eating, often linked to food intolerances. Unlike allergies, which involve the immune system, these issues arise from digestive difficulties.

Prof. Dr. Franz-Josef Prott will lead the programme, offering context and moderating a Q&A session. Dr. Hanan Adib-Tezer will address rising concerns in Food Allergies: New and Hidden Allergens on the Rise, while nutrition scientist Caroline Hehner explores Nutrition for Metabolic Syndrome and Fatty Liver Disease.

Attendees will receive tailored advice, including low-FODMAP diets, gradual reduction of problem foods, and enzyme supplements like lactase. Experts such as Dr. Müller and nutritionist Anna Schmidt will recommend symptom tracking through food diaries and personalised meal plans. The lecture provides clear strategies for those struggling with meal-related discomfort. Free to attend, it offers both scientific insights and actionable tips for better digestive health. Registration details will be available through Wiesbaden City Hall's official channels.
