Lünen-South Community Initiative Launches Free "Breathing Space" Prevention Project
Starting May 5, the Lünen-South community outreach program will offer a new, free prevention initiative called "Breathing Space" at Haltestelle (Jägerstraße 44), designed for individuals living alone.
The program aims to teach participants practical, everyday techniques for relaxation and stress reduction. Funded by Techniker Krankenkasse (TK health insurance) and the Unna district, the project focuses on breathing exercises to cultivate inner calm, release physical tension, and enhance overall well-being. The initiative responds to growing demand for loneliness prevention and accessible health services in the neighborhood.
The course will be led by Beate Menkarski, an experienced psychotherapist, yoga instructor, and relaxation therapist. She will be supported by Anja Valdor of the City of Lünen, who is coordinating the program both logistically and conceptually while currently training to become a certified breathing coach.
The ten-session program is open exclusively to solo households. Meetings will take place Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, running from May 5 to August 25.
To ensure proper planning, organizers ask interested participants to register by phone in advance.
